"Storms" details the work done behind the scenes to deal with the weather threat on the railways. We used a combination of faux 3D and flat illustrative art style to take the viewer on a rain-soaked journey - through a series of major railway problems frequently caused by VBW (Very British Weather). Wanting to highlight the elements, it was important to animate the wind and the effect on the environment, as well as more obvious storm clouds and puddles. Using some hand drawn elements really helped us to emphasise the chaotic storm energy. The combination of these textures and a moody colour palette gives the film a graphic novel inspired look - which we pushed further with playful transitions. All aboard!
